In the Fall of 2016, I worked with InkedVoices to answer this question. My research process started in with exploring a few key things:
Leveraging primary and secondary research, I set out to unpack these questions through interviews, observations, customer journey mapping, and card sorting. I looked into analogous examples as well including Fitbits, traveling, and PokemonGo.
What I began to understand was that writers needed a better, easier way of understanding their time and performance. Humans tend to over-estimate their work output and writers were no different. When they thought they have been writing for 30 minutes, really it was only for 22. Or when they thought they were writing 5 days a week, really it was only 3 or 4. With this in mind, I developed prototypes that coupled the ease-of-use that was necessary with the data writers are looking for.
With the Ink On app, we set out to make a habit out of someone's passion.
